Birding in the Gatlinburg Area
Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are hot spots for bird watching in the southeast. More than 240 species of birds reside in the area; sixty are year-round residents and nearly 120 species breed here. The types and numbers of birds in the area changes with the season, thus bird watchers are always exposed to different species every time they visit Gatlinburg. Contact Keith Langdon at the National Park Service at 865-436-1705 and visit www.dlia.org for more information.
