The Gatlinburg Christmas Snow Storm of 2010

On Christmas Day, December the 25th, 2010, the weather reports that we were getting warned us to expect snow in the Gatlinburg area for Christmas day and that it would subside over the following two days leaving us with temperatures in the mid forties to low fifties for New Years Eve. The first part of the forecast was right. We did get up to fourteen inches of snow in places with an average of eleven inches for the entire Gatlinburg area. However, the warm weather was delayed and temps for the next three days did not go above the twenties and were as low as five degrees. Because of this type of weather potential, 4 wheel drive vehicles and chains are recommended in the winter in our area. Travel Insurance is also strongly advised to help protect you from covered losses.

The following photos are vivid images of the area and the severity of the snow and ice event.
