BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME
GPS Use in the Gatlinburg area: GPS has proven to be very reliable for getting to the JMH office where you will get a map with detailed directions to your vacation cabin. It is important to keep in mind that while GPS is useful in getting you to your cabin there might be areas along the way where GPS reception is limited. It is very important that you rely on our directions to your cabin when using a GPS so that should you encounter a loss of signal on your GPS you will know where you are and how to continue to your cabin.
I-40, EXIT 407 TO GATLINBURG FROM EXIT 407 THROUGH SEVIERVILLE AND PIGEON FORGE VERY LONG DELAYS CAN BE EXPECTED ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS ESPECIALLY IN THE AFTERNOONS!
BE SURE TO HAVE CURRENT DETAILED MAPS OF YOUR ROUTE TO GATLINBURG WITH YOU IN CASE YOU NEED TO TAKE A DETOUR OR IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT YOU GET LOST! WHILE IT MAY BE A LITTLE FARTHER, THE FOLLOWING ROUTE IS MOST OFTEN THE FASTEST DURING TIMES OF HEAVY TRAFFIC AND IT AVOIDS PIGEON FORGE!
THE BACK DOOR TO GATLINBURG
From I-40, Exit 440 or 443 – take Hwy 321 about 20 miles (becomes East Parkway) towards Gatlinburg. At the Hwy 454 / Buckhorn Rd. intersection the road will become four lanes (Gatlinburg city limit). Continue straight on Hwy 321 for 1.7 miles
to Jackson Mountain Homes at 1662 East Parkway which will be on your left. LOOK FOR OUR SIGN! (View Map)
From I-40, Exit 407 – go south approx. 8.5 mi. on Hwy 66 to Hwy 411 in Sevierville, turn left and travel approx. 3.3 mi. on Hwy 411 (Dolly Parton Parkway) to Hwy 416. Turn right on Hwy 416 to Hwy 454 (Known locally as Birds Creek then Buckhorn Rd.) to dead end at Hwy 321/East Parkway. Turn right on Hwy 321/East Parkway and travel 1.7 miles to Jackson Mountain Homes at 1662 East Parkway. The office will be on your left.
GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY
- We strongly advise four (4) wheel drive and chains.
- Pay close attention to weather reports as the weather changes quickly in the mountains.
- City streets are normally plowed but secondary streets, driveways, and remote roads might not be plowed for days. JMH cannot be responsible for road or driveway condition, for how guests drive or the expense and/or coordination of tow trucks.
- DURING SNOW CONDITIONS THE HIGHWAYS THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS ARE FREQUENTLY CLOSED! BE SURE TO CHECK BEFORE YOU COME!
SNOW PRECAUTIONS AT YOUR RENTAL CABIN
- Be certain to keep plenty of food and bottled water at the cabin.
- Be sure that all cell phones and flashlight batteries are charged and/or you have spares.
- Park your car at the bottom of any steep driveways if bad weather is imminent.
- Do not leave the cabin if you feel road conditions are unsafe or might prevent you from returning to the cabin.
The homes managed by JMH are privately owned. During snow and ice conditions JMH will be happy to provide whatever assistance possible to our guests. Unfortunately, when a snow event does happen, emergency services are stretched past their limits. Towing or any kind or transportation services to rental units may not be possible.
Travel Insurance is strongly advised and is offered at the time of booking and at final payment. If purchased, the insurance coverage is underwritten by Stonebridge Casualty Insurance Company and any non-insurance assistance services are provided by CSA’s designated provider. Please contact CSA at 866-999-4018 if you have any questions.
During snow conditions, Gatlinburg can be a winter wonderland if you take precautions and come prepared.

Hwy 441,CHEROKEE TO GATLINBURG
Due to winter weather, during holidays, weekends, and special events, long traffic delays can be experienced on Hwy – 441 between Cherokee, NC and Gatlinburg. You are advised to take alternate routes during these times. NOTICE: Cherokee Casino visitors need to be aware that the return trip to Gatlinburg from the casino can have long traffic delays during busy times. Be sure to have detailed area maps in your vehicle. See our “Getting Here – Map and Directions” section for suggestions.
GETTING AROUND GATLINBURG ONCE YOU ARE HERE – Gatlinburg Trolley System
When Gatlinburg is busy and traffic is congested it is often better to use the Gatlinburg Trolley System. The Trolleys will take you almost any place in Gatlinburg you need to go. Just click on this link for a Trolley Map, information and directions
Our vacation homes provide ample parking as noted in our website in the amenities section for each home. The number of parking spaces is based on the space available for standard automobiles. Parking on city streets is illegal except where designated.
GUESTS BRINGING TRAILERS OR CAMPERS:
Due to the hilly topography and limited parking in the Gatlinburg area it can be difficult to almost impossible to find parking for trailers or large vehicles. Campers are not allowed unless they are parked at an RV lot. We are sorry but parking of guest vehicles and/or trailers in the JMH office parking lot cannot be accommodated. If you are bringing a trailer of any kind please be sure to seek advice from our reservations staff prior to making your reservations.
