Motorcycle Tour
Tail of The Dragon - If you are visiting the Great Smoky Mountains and are up for a scenic drive, head out to the Tail of the Dragon. This ride is among the most popular destination rides for motorcycles and sports cars in the United States. For many, the Tail of The Dragon begins at the west end of the Foothills Parkway on the western end of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. At the end of the Foothills Parkway you turn left for a short 3.2 mile drive along beautiful Chilhowee Lake before you begin the Dragon that features 318 unique curves in 11 miles! There are no buildings and very few turnoffs along the roadside, just the Great Smoky Mountain National Forest on the north side and a large natural wildlife area owned by Alcoa Aluminum on the south side.
While your tour can be beautiful, it can also be dangerous, especially in wet weather or in the fall when leaves are on the ground. Drive carefully! If you are prone to motion sickness you may want to skip the drive.
