More About River's Edge

Bedrooms: 3 Bathrooms: 3 Sleeps: 8

On the banks of Little Pigeon River, nestled in a valley of the Great Smoky Mountains, River’s Edge is gorgeous. And so are the views of the river and the surrounding woods from the chalet’s front porch and great room.

Because it overlooks the trout-stocked Little Pigeon River, the 3-bedroom home will delight anglers—fabulous fishing is just steps from your front door! River’s Edge will also please anyone who uses a wheelchair, as the house offers accessible features including an entry ramp and wide doorways. The main floor’s en-suite bedrooms offers additional floor space for maneuverability and easy-to-access showers. That’s in addition to their king-size beds, TVs, and tjetted tubs, of course.

After a day of fishing, hiking, biking, or exploring Dollywood, you’ll relish the restorative pulsing of the tub’s steamy water. Or you can head outside, to the hot tub on the porch. After all, if a soak in a bubbly tub is good, a soak in a bubbly tub that’s out in the fresh air has got to be great!

Speaking of great, wait till you see the great room. A 20-foot-high wall of windows looks out beyond the porch and the treetops to the river, bringing the grandeur of nature indoors. What’s more, the sunshine streaming in shows off the beauty of the hand-rubbed pine walls to perfection.

When you can tear your gaze away from the view outside, the great room is a comfortable, inviting spot to watch a movie (the TV receives HBO and other movie channels, plus it has a DVD player). Or you might want to play Pictionary with family and friends, or kick back in the recliner beside the wood-burning fireplace with a good book.

The dining area is another spacious gathering spot. The table seats 6, and there’s room for 4 more at the adjacent breakfast bar. If you have company, you can serve the kids at the counter and let the adults enjoy a leisurely meal at the table. Another option is dine alfresco at the table on the porch. The fresh breeze, the rushing of the river over the rocks, and the singing of the wrens and warblers will make even the simplest meal seem like a feast.

If a feast is what you want, the kitchen is more than up to the task. It’s stocked with all the appliances, gadgets, pots, pans, and tableware you could possibly need, even if you’re going so far as to host a holiday meal. For good measure, there’s a charcoal grill outside. And because nobody wants to scrub plates during vacation, River’s Edge has a dishwasher.

The 3rd bedroom is upstairs, in the loft. Because the bedroom and its private bath are the only rooms on that level, they offer maximum privacy. And the view from the queen-size bed is truly spectacular—you’ll almost feel as if you’re in a treehouse. If you need to accommodate additional guests, one of the great room’s sofas opens into a bed for 2, enabling River’s Edge to sleep up to 8 people in total.

You could happily while away most of your stay in the chalet or exploring its immediate surroundings. But then you’d be missing out on the attractions of downtown Gatlinburg, just a 15-minute drive away; these range from an aquarium to Ripley’s Believe It or Not to mini golf. Also close by is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where you can hike, bike, and ride horses among wildflowers and wildlife. Even Dollywood is only a half-hour away.

As soon as you pull up the driveway, you can tell that River’s Edge is no ordinary mountain cabin. And when you stay here, you won’t have an ordinary vacation. See for yourself; book your stay today!

The cabin is great for families, couples, elderly, people with small dogs. Our family of five were very impressed with the cabin. We had a great time and enjoyed the river below. This is a great location to everything. If you are at the top of a mountain it takes a lot of time going up and down. This location is perfect.

The cabin, River's Edge, is in an excellent location and is handicapped accessible, which meets our needs nicely. The cabin was fairly clean, the toilet area on the first floor had a lingering smell. The tracks/racks in the dishwasher are also out of alignment and make it difficult to load and unload the dishwasher. But we were very comfortable and enjoyed the stay very much.

We truly enjoyed the everything about the Cabin and vacation. The cabin was clean and well maintained with a relaxing view of the Little Pigeon river. I was shocked to find the kitchen was stocked with plenty of cookware for our large family. On our last day we were snowed in and Jackson Mountain home came to our rescue with assistance in getting to the main highway so we could return on our long drive home. We hope we can return soon!!!!

I am pleased that not only did you find your cabin clean and well maintained, I am overjoyed that you found the kitchen well-stocked. We love to hear that you had everything that you needed. The snow was only a little hiccup, we were happy to have our snow team out to assist you. We look forward to your next visit. Trisha

The reservation, checking and checkout was very easy. We loved the cabin and it is now our favorite. It was spacious and easy for my husband to move around in his wheelchair. The creek in back was an added addition. Our dog loved it too. Plenty of grass for her to roam around in. Very quiet and relaxing. We hated to leave but plan on coming back next year. My only complaint is the cabin needed a good dusting (especially the baseboards). This didn't by no means dampen our visit. The beds were comfortable too and that is always not the case in every cabin. Thank you again for suggesting this cabin for us.

The cabin was beautiful with a great location. We had problems with the water pressure in the upstairs bathroom and the washing machine and you fixed that extremely fast. However, the house is advertised to have wifi, but that is false advertising. The wifi is so bad no one was able to do anything on it. This was a working vacation and it was impossible to work. For rainly nights we had brought movies to watch but planned to use our Netflix account to continue watching a family show we all enjoyed that we had saved for this occassion and we were unable to do so. The batteries in the remotes were dead so is was difficult to even change the channel on the TV. While we enjoyed our time in the National Park and the games we played on rainy days, it was one of our least favorite family vacations.

Great! But I have to say that this survey is really flawed if you are not going to accept it unless somebody takes the time to write 10 words. People are going to just give up and not do the survey.

Overall everything was very good. We love Rivers Edge but did notice that the maintenance at this property has not been kept up. The water pressure in the bathroom upstairs was poor and the overhead lighting was not working. Also half-way through our stay, the well wasn't working properly and for over an hour, the water was coming out orange.

We had a great interaction with the office. We had a problem with the water while there but someone quickly came out to try and fix the problem. There is a recliner in the living room that was a little wabbly when you sat in it. The living room furniture could be updated. It's worn enough that those of us with bad backs have a difficult time gettin up out of them where they're sagging. Overall the cabin is adorable and in a perfect location. We joined there as a family and created wonderful family memories. The beds are comfortable and everything is very clean.
