The name of this log cabin, Breathtaking View, doesn’t exaggerate. From its expansive front porch, its outdoor hot tub, the king-size bed, or the loft-level game room, you’ll revel in the spectacular views of the trees, the Great Smoky Mountains, and the endless sky.
The seemingly secluded setting makes the 1-bedroom cabin ideal for a romantic getaway—though the sofa in the living room does convert to a bed for 2, enabling Breathtaking View to sleep a total of 4 people. But though you’ll feel far from the madding crowd when you stay here, you’ll be glad to know that downtown Gatlinburg, with its restaurants, shops, and a wide range of entertainment, is a mere 5 minutes away by car. Also, just a short drive away is the main entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; just a bit further is Dollywood.
Even so, if serenity, privacy, and the opportunity to surround yourself with nature are your prime vacation criteria, Breathtaking View is for you. The porch that wraps around 2 sides of the cabin has a hot tub perfectly positioned for the best views of the mountains. Take a soak first thing in the morning as the sparrows and warblers sing, or indulge late at night with your special someone as you scan the sky in search of a shooting star.
Should you prefer to do your stargazing while dry, the porch swing is equally romantic. Or savor your first cup of coffee in one of the deck’s rocking chairs. There’s also a bistro table and chairs so that you can enjoy dinner for 2 al fresco. You can cook your meal outdoors as well, on the charcoal grill.
Of course, Breathtaking View also has an indoor dining table for 4 and a fully equipped indoor kitchen. Fridge/freezer, oven/stove, microwave, coffeemaker, cookware, tableware… you’ll find everything here but food! The kitchen even has a dishwasher, because there’s nothing romantic about scrubbing plates. And just beyond the kitchen area there’s a washer and dryer too; talk about convenient!
The living room is dedicated to relaxation. Furnished in true rustic refinement, it includes a leather sofa bed large enough to stretch out on as you watch TV, surf the web, or take a nap. The ceiling fan will keep you delightfully cool in summer; the gas fireplace, in its charming stone surround, will warm you up—and add to the romantic ambience—in winter.
Just as delightful is the master suite. The king-size bed will be freshly made when you arrive, and laundered towels will be waiting, so you can make a bath and a nap your first order of business if you like. And speaking of baths, the master suite includes a jetted tub, just the thing after a day spent fishing, hiking, biking, or rafting.
All this, and we haven’t even explored the loft! That’s where you’ll find the pool table, along with another TV and a seating area.
When you stay at Breathtaking View, you can also enjoy a different sort of pool. Because the cabin is part of the Black Bear Falls Log Home Community, you have access to the resort’s heated adult and children’s swimming pools, which are open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. After your swim you can loll on a poolside chaise—don’t forget the sunscreen!
